The puppies are doing great and continue to grow each day. Two of the puppies have now passed the three pound mark and the others will probably hit that mark before the week is over. I continue to supplement them with formula in a cup, although they are still getting most of their nutrition from Maddie. I think they still have nearly as much milk on their faces as they have actually consumed.
Most of the puppies' day is still spent sleeping. I would love to sleep as soundly and comfortably as they puppies appear to. They usually sleep on a large pile, climbing on top of each other until they find a comfortable spot.
They are also able to move around better with each day. They are getting more steady on their feet and are able walk in and out of their room much more easily. They seem to have decided that they prefer to sleep outside their room on the linoleum instead of on their carpet under the heat lamp. I usually put them back inside several times throughout the day and night but in a few hours time they have returned to their spot. Maddie also seems to prefer to sit on the hard cool floor when she nurses them so perhaps they sit in their spot in hopes that Maddie will come and feed them.
