Maddie did a wonderful job today. She is now the proud mama to TEN new little puppies! We have three boys and seven girls. They all weighed between 18.5 and 21 ounces at birth so they are off to a good start.
Maddie was a bit restless last night and this morning she didn't want to let me out of her sight. We took a walk and then she just wanted to sit outside for a bit. Around eight-thirty she insisted on going inside and by nine we had our first puppy. The rest of the day went very smoothly and we didn't have any complications.
I still have the puppies in one large group but expect to split them into two smaller groups so that everyone has an opportunity to eat because obviously there is not enough space for everyone at one time.
I hope to take some better pictures tomorrow and perhaps get some individual shots. I think Maddie has had enough commotion for today so it will have to wait.
