Learning to walk is hard work! The puppies are starting to figure out how their legs work. They are incredibly wobbly and often stumble and roll over on their sides but they are able to hold themselves up on their legs for a few seconds.They are also getting better at figuring out where they want to go, their eyes and ears are not open yet but their sense of smell seems to help as they look for Maddie or the other puppies.
Maddie and the puppies had a great night last night. All the puppies seemed to nurse well, even with the larger numbers and they all gained a measurable amount. They spent most of the day today as a whole litter, although we did give a few of the puppies some extra time with Maddie. More of the puppies have passed the two pound mark today, there are just two puppies that are less than an ounce away from hitting the milestone.
